Chilean salmon company Ventisqueros held the global launch of its premium Pacific salmon (coho salmon, Oncorhynchus kisutch) brand Silverside in Tokyo, Japan, on October 21, 2026. The event, themed "Step into a Silverside," drew more than 80 strategic customers from the retail and foodservice markets.

Ventisqueros said the launch marks a new stage for one of its core commercial products. According to company data, Pacific salmon sales across the industry grew 82% between 2021 and 2025, equivalent to a 16% compound annual growth rate; the related products currently reach 73 markets.

Japan was chosen as the global launch location because, according to Ventisqueros, the country is of historic significance to the company and is one of the main destination markets for Chilean Pacific salmon. Commercial Manager Javier Calvo said the Japanese market has a deep understanding of Pacific salmon and maintains very high standards for quality, consistency and service, making it an important place for the company to listen to customer feedback and continuously refine its product program; the rebranding is also aimed at global markets, with the goal of continuing to expand Silverside in more markets and meeting the increasingly sophisticated needs of retail and foodservice chain operators.

At the product level, the Silverside refresh includes upgraded brand identity and packaging, backed by a production strategy aimed at improving consistency, freshness and reliability. The program also incorporates certified sustainability standards: 100% of Ventisqueros' harvested output holds ASC and BAP certification, and its processing plants hold BRC Food certification; the company achieved 100% ASC-certified production in 2024 and reached that level again in 2025.

On farming inputs, Ventisqueros has reduced antibiotic use during the fish grow-out period by 80% over the past decade. Starting this quarter, Silverside will be 100% antibiotic-free certified at the seawater farming stage. The company has also introduced tools such as remote feeding and continuous technical monitoring into its operations.

During the Tokyo event, Ventisqueros held meetings with customers to directly understand their main commercial, logistics and cold-chain challenges, as part of its ongoing strategy to develop Silverside in international markets.
