Santa Teresita, Argentina: Coast Guard Continues Search for Two Missing Kayakers

The Argentine Naval Prefecture vessel GC-72 "Buenos Aires" continues a low-speed search in shallow waters near Santa Teresita for two missing kayakers, after several other vessels involved in the operation returned to port.

The Argentine Naval Prefecture (Prefectura Naval Argentina) vessel GC-72 "Buenos Aires" is still carrying out a search operation near Santa Teresita for two missing kayakers. The vessel remains in shallow waters, patrolling at low speed, while local fishing boats also remain on alert for possible traces.

The deployment was adjusted after the offshore patrol vessel ARA "Storni" (P-53) and Coast Guard vessels GC-26 "Thompson" and GC-66 "Luján River" returned to port. The "Buenos Aires" departed from Mar del Plata yesterday evening and subsequently became the surface unit involved in the search.

The commander of the Atlantic Naval Area and commander of the Mar del Plata Naval Base, Rear Admiral Fernando Enrique Pérez Kühn, had previously issued a reminder on Wednesday regarding the forecast conditions shown in the search and rescue table.
