Nominations Open for Lantra Scotland ALBAS Awards 2027, Covering Ten Industry Categories Including Aquaculture

Nominations are now open for the Lantra Scotland ALBAS (Awards for Land-based and Aquaculture Skills) 2027, seeking candidates across ten industry categories including animal care, aquaculture and fisheries management. The nomination deadline is Monday, 2 November.

Nominations are now open for the Lantra Scotland ALBAS (Awards for Land-based and Aquaculture Skills) 2027, which recognise the best and brightest talent in Scotland's land-based and environmental sector.

According to the organisers, since the awards were established in 2003, more than 500 ALBAS finalists have been named, and the event is now widely recognised as a high-profile showcase for the next generation of talent in the rural industries. Employers, colleges, training providers, schools and rural organisations are all encouraged to continue this tradition by nominating outstanding learners, trainees and organisations across the sector.

The industry categories open for nomination include: animal care, aquaculture, equestrian, environmental conservation, fisheries management, game and wildlife, horticulture, land-based engineering, trees and timber, and veterinary nursing.

Nominations will be reviewed by an independent judging panel, which will shortlist candidates for interview. Lantra Scotland director Gill Simpson said judges will give equal weight to applicants' industry knowledge and passion, their learning journey and their future plans.

"The land-based and environmental industries are vital to Scotland's economy, particularly in rural areas, so it is important that we celebrate the success of outstanding learners, employers, training providers and partners through the ALBAS," Simpson said in a press release. "Being shortlisted can have a huge impact on an individual's confidence and career, and the awards also highlight the benefits to employers of having a well-trained, highly skilled workforce."

Simpson added: "Nominating someone is your chance to really bring that person's story to life, so please tell us what makes them stand out, what they have achieved, and where they hope to go next."

Nominations must be submitted via the Lantra website by Monday, 2 November. Organisations interested in sponsoring can contact [email protected] or call 01738 310164.
