On October 29, 2026, the Russian Fishery Company (RFC) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China's Anjoy Foods Group, under which the two parties will cooperate on the supply and product development of Alaska pollock (狭鳕, Gadus chalcogrammus) surimi in the Chinese market. The agreement explicitly calls for prioritizing direct business engagement, reducing intermediate links in the traditional trade chain, and establishing a traceable supply chain from fishing and processing through to end consumption.

According to the cooperation details published by both parties, RFC will introduce its Alaska pollock surimi product portfolio, production capacity and product traceability management system to Anjoy Foods, and provide relevant technical materials. Anjoy Foods will evaluate RFC's surimi products in accordance with its own product development and production quality requirements, study their application in its existing product lines, and promote the development and sale of foods made with high-quality Alaska pollock surimi as a raw material.

The cooperation also covers exchanges on product technical specifications and quality standards, coordination of logistics arrangements, market demand forecasting and joint marketing. Both parties hope that direct communication between a production enterprise and a food processing enterprise will reduce intermediate distribution links, allowing raw material specifications, quality requirements and delivery arrangements to be better aligned.

It should be noted that the currently announced agreement has not disclosed specific purchase volumes, contract values or annual supply plans. Anjoy Foods will first evaluate RFC's products and production system, and the scale of subsequent cooperation between the two parties will still depend on product verification, procurement arrangements and actual market demand. Therefore, this signing is more accurately described as the establishment of a strategic cooperation and a direct supply channel, rather than a long-term purchase order with a fixed scale already determined.

RFC is one of Russia's major Alaska pollock fishing and processing companies, with substantial scale in distant-water fishing, onboard processing and the production of high value-added products. The company's Alaska pollock catch reached 412,173 tonnes in 2025, accounting for about 20% of Russia's total Alaska pollock catch. In terms of processed products, RFC's fillet output that year exceeded 37,000 tonnes, up 71% year on year; surimi output reached 60,000 tonnes, up 49% year on year.

Surimi has become an important product for RFC in expanding its Alaska pollock deep-processing business. A new generation of large processing vessels can complete processing after catching at sea, giving the company greater capacity to produce fillets, surimi and roe. For Alaska pollock fishing companies, increasing the share of processed products such as surimi is also an important path to improving raw material utilization and product added value.

The Chinese market occupies an important position in RFC's export business. The company discloses that China accounts for about 35% of its total exports. In 2025, RFC's sales in the Chinese market grew 17% year on year, of which Alaska pollock surimi sales grew 60% year on year. The company began supplying Alaska pollock surimi to the Chinese market in 2022, and by 2025 the related sales scale had reached about six times the initial level.

Other Asian markets are also expanding their purchases of RFC's Alaska pollock processed products. In 2025, the company's surimi sales to Asian countries other than China more than doubled year on year, and Alaska pollock fillet sales grew 30%. China, South Korea, Japan and Southeast Asian markets form an important part of its Asian business layout.

This signing with Anjoy Foods adds a new cooperation channel for RFC to reach large Chinese food processing enterprises. Anjoy Foods is a major domestic player in quick-frozen prepared foods and surimi products, with surimi raw materials closely tied to the production of fish balls, fish cakes and similar products. For RFC, establishing direct contact with large food processing enterprises helps it organize raw material supply according to customers' product requirements; for Anjoy Foods, the new Russian Alaska pollock surimi supply cooperation offers an opportunity to diversify its raw material procurement channels.

RFC Board Chairman Saveliy Karpukhin said after the signing that the company hopes to expand product supply through cooperation with Anjoy Foods and jointly develop the Chinese market. He views the cooperation as a move by RFC to strengthen business ties in the Asia-Pacific market.

At present, the two parties have not yet announced the specific specifications, delivery times or procurement scale of the first batch of products. Subsequent cooperation will focus on RFC product evaluation, quality standard confirmation, logistics coordination and actual procurement demand.
