Danish Environmental Agency: Permission to Weigh and Pack Catches On Board Must Be Reapplied for by 1 December, Effective from 2027

The Danish Environmental Agency requires vessel owners who wish to continue weighing and packing catches on board, selling directly to first-hand buyers or auctioning at fish markets to reapply for Permit No. 0900. Applications must be received by 1 December 2026 in order to take effect from 1 January 2027.

The Danish fisheries newspaper reported on 29 October 2026 that the Danish Environmental Agency (Miljøstyrelsen) is reminding vessel owners that anyone who wishes to continue weighing and packing catches on board in order to sell directly to first-hand buyers or auction them at fish markets must reapply for Permit No. 0900.

The application deadline is 1 December 2026, and applications must reach the Danish Environmental Agency by that date to ensure the new permit takes effect from 1 January 2027.

Conditions for obtaining the permit include: the vessel must be equipped with a scale certified by the maritime authorities; the application must contain the required information about the vessel, the owner and the scale used. There are also requirements for the placement of the scale — it must be placed on a stable, flat surface so that any movement does not affect the accuracy of the weighing result.

The Danish Environmental Agency provides the application form in its announcement, entitled "Application for permission to weigh and pack catches on board". The agency also calls on applicants to send their applications to tilladelse@fvst.dk as early as possible and not to wait until the deadline is approaching.
